Petra Duran Montes

Sister Petra Duran Montes has slept in arms of our lord, She was born on November 23, 1933 in Crystal City, Texas. She lived in Ohio for most of her life. Then in 1958 she met and married Reyes Garcia Montes. It was not until 1963 when they both decided to return to Texas in search of a better life and better opportunities. They settled in Houston, Texas, where she started working. It was there that she met a co-worker, who spoke to her about the Church of the Living God Pilar and Column of the Truth The Light of the World. Sister Petra liked the doctrine and hearing about an Apostle of God named Aaron Joaquin Gonzalez. This evangelization led to the beginning of her visiting the church.

Sister Petra was then baptized on April 26, 1965. The Apostle of Jesus Christ Samuel Joaquin was present at these baptisms. On October 10, 1965, she received the Holy Spirit. She has lived in Houston ever since and has been very blessed. Faithful sister, who despite her age and illness never stopped persevering, thanking God for granting her one more day of life each time.

Noble, with a good heart helping in what her strength allowed her to do. She was in charge of the children studies.

She preached with the local missionaries and also preached at her workplace. She participated in a variety of church activities. Defending the Election in three contemporary Apostles and living under the Mantle of the Election. She has left a beautiful example to her family on how to serve God. She leaves behind 5 children, Miguel Montes, Mae Montes, Diana Capulin, Reyes Montes, Ruben Montes, 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
