Phyllis Allard Kerry

She was the wife of the late Philip Peter Kerry.

Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Ella (Leclair) and Lionel Charles Allard.

Phyllis graduated from St. Clare High School in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and embarked on a career as an office manager for a large US manufacturing company. Her hobbies included playing golf and tennis with her twin sister Pauline (Allard) Couture. In 1957 she met Philip, the love of her life, and together they shared a mutual passion for golf. In 1958 they wed and one year later their daughter, Dawn (Kerry) Logan, was born. They settled in Cumberland, Rhode Island where they made many friends at the Kirkbrae Country Club, Sher-Le-Mon Swim Club, and St. Joan of Arc Church.

In 1996 Phyl and Phil, as they were affectionately known to family and friends, retired, and moved to Texas to be close to their daughter and son-in-law. They enjoyed playing golf, travelling through Texas, and visiting family and friends in New England and Florida.

In addition to her husband and parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her brother, Lionel Charles Allard Jr, and sister Claire (Allard) Gouin. She is survived by her loving daughter, Dawn, her devoted son-in-law John Reed Logan Jr, sister Jeanne (Allard) Flynn and twin sister Pauline (Allard) Couture. She is also survived by many nieces, and nephews.

Phyllis was the foundation of our family, a best friend to her husband until his passing in 2011, and a constant companion to her daughter. She left her earthly body and is now in God’s glorious kingdom, living eternally with her Lord and Savior.

To say John and I will miss her is an understatement, but our hearts are full of joy knowing that she and my dad are reunited, playing golf every day, with scratch handicaps and an occasional ‘hole in one’!

Until we meet in Heaven, we will hug you in our souls every day.

A private burial service will take place at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas, and a celebration of life memorial to be held later in Cumberland, Rhode Island.
