Pinak was born October 1, 1947 in Shillong, India. He completed his undergraduate from Japaiguri Government Engineering College in India 1969 and moved to the United States in 1972. He received his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisville in 1980.
Pinak had a passion for golf as well as floral and landscape photography. He was also an avid reader of thriller and mystery book and his pride was his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Bharati Choudhury; his three children Neil, Eric and Joyita; and six grandchildren: Alexander, Isabella, Sophia, Evan, Alyssa and Jackson. He is also survived by his three siblings: Purabi Pai, Padma Ganguli and Prithwiraj Choudhury.
