Ralph Eddie Payne Jr.

Eddie was born June 11, 1971, in Houston, Tx. He grew up in Spring, Tx and was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School.

In his youth, Eddie was known and loved by all. He was strong and brave, as you would hope a big brother would be. He was also popular, charismatic, full of promise and once lit up every room with his smile, laughter and charm. He burned the candle at both ends during his youth making memories that lasted him a lifetime.

In early adulthood, Eddie’s life took a dramatic turn as he was victim of a violent crime that left him a Quadriplegic dependent on a ventilator. Over the next 31 years, he faced challenges most can’t imagine. He faced these unimaginable challenges with courage, determination and an unshakable spirit. Throughout all this he maintained his sense of humor and still found joy in being alive. Instead of sadness and losing hope, he found a new purpose in life in helping others. He became a trusted listener. Technology kept Eddie in touch with the world through email and social media. He connected with countless people offering listening, guidance, honest advice and a perspective on life and problems that most could never offer. Even through his own pain he spent his days lifting other people up. His strength wasn’t just how he endured but, in his compassion, and support of others.

Eddie was preceded in death by his Grandparents: William P. Holder, Bernice Holder, Clifford Carpenter; Father, Ralph Eddie Payne, Sr.; Brother, Jamie Payne; Cousin, John Holder.

He leaves behind his loving Mother, Cheryl Denton; Brothers, Scott Payne and Robert Payne; Sisters, Gina Payne, Crystal Payne, Nicole Honeycutt, Ginger Moerke; Nephews, Caden Payne, Bryce Payne, Jace Payne; Nieces, Ashton Payne, Alexa Payne; Uncle William Holder; Aunt Sharon Holder and Debbie Underwood; Cousins, Trey Holder and Shannon Holder and a host of friends.

Eddie was loved by all who knew him and his journey on this earth will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held at 1 PM on September 10, 2025, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.13001 Katy Fwy. Houston, Tx 77079. Service and graveside burial to follow at 2 PM.
