He lived a life full of love, service, and adventure and was a person with many talents and interests. Ramon was born and raised in Houston, TX and earned his Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design after which he went on to work for Powers Brown Architecture firm in Houston. At the time of his passing, Ramon was employed with Harris County Department of Engineering.
He could often be found at his church, House of Grace, where he served as the director of worship for many years and also helped in other ways such as first responder to alarm alerts, delivering gifts all over the city on Mother’s Day, and participating in church beatification projects among other things. To stay active, Ramon was part of a local indoor soccer team and also attended dance classes with friends. He had recently taken an interest in biking and had a great time riding around town. Ramon was an avid foodie and enjoyed visiting restaurants in Houston and around the world. Sometimes it was a quick road trip to try a restaurant, other times a trip around the world to marvel at architecture. His family often joked that he was always one step ahead in learning about things and finding great spots. Whether he was exploring Houston or visiting other cities and countries, Ramon found delight in learning and exploring food and culture.
Still, he always prioritized family time and made sure his parents had everything they needed. He adored his niece and had jam sessions with her on their guitars. He made time for his siblings and cousins and joked around with them to no end. On Christmas Eve, he made sure to visit his grandfather and take him his Christmas gift since the family would not be gathering due to COVID. As a child, Ramon’s family enjoyed Friday Pizza Night and he took it upon himself to continue this tradition with his parents by taking them pizza every Friday and introducing them to new foods throughout the week. For him, it wasn’t just about Fridays or traditions. It was about being present and attentive every day.
Ramon leaves a great void in the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. His calm and cool demeanor and constant reminder “It’s not about us, it’s about Him.” will remain in our hearts along with the memories of a life well lived. His immediate family- father Ramon Oreste Ramos, mother Ana Isabel Ramos, sisters Angelica Ramos-Chbihi and Marisol Ramos, brother Daniel Ramos, brother-in-law Otmane Chbihi and niece Sofia Chbihi grieve this tremendous loss along with their extended family and friends.
