

He was born in Houston, Texas on February 19, 1926.
He attended Jefferson Davis High School and was drafted before completing high school in March of 1944. He served with the 87th infantry Division, 3rd Army. His unit took part in the historic counterattack in the Battle of the Bulge. Sgt. Baldit also participated in the breaching of the Siegfried Line, Moselle river crossing, capture of Koblenz, and the Rhine crossing. He served in combat until the war
ended on May 8, 1945. He went on to serve with the American Occupational forces in Germany until 1946.
He married Linda Rodriguez on May 23,1948 and celebrated 71 years of marriage.
He worked at Southern Pacific Railroad for 42 years and retired in 1988.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Wings over Houston Airshow participant for over 10 years in the Legends and Heroes Tent - signing autographs, answering questions and telling stories. He had a passion for fishing and travel. He loved to barbeque and cook outdoors for his family.
Raul Baldit loved life and his motto was "you gotta keep on going". He was always there to lend a helping hand if something needed fixing. He was ready, willing and able to fix it. His smile and positive attitude will be remembered by all of us that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Linda Baldit
Children - Roy Baldit, Denise Manderscheid and Alisha Baldit
Grandchildren - Derek Baldit, Matt Baldit, Brittany Baldit and Jacob Manderscheid
Great-Grandchildren- Devin McKinley and Daniel Baldit
Preceding him in death was his brother Eddie Harms, Emilio Baldit, sister Celia Martinez and Bennie Vazquez.
He is survived by his sister Nora Mendoza and brother Rudy Vazquez.
Due to the pandemic only a limited amount of people are able to attend the service by invitation of the family. A memorial service will be held at a later date for friends and family to attend.
