

Rene Gonzalez Lozano, age 79, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 in Houston, Texas. He was born on September 3, 1945 to Roman Lozano and Maria Loreto Lozano in Arcabuz, Tamaulipas, Mexico. His father moved the family to the United States when he was 9 years old, and they spent time living in both Texas and California.
Rene was a proud military veteran. At the age of 20, he was assigned to the 36th Signal Battalion, A Company, to serve as a communications lineman for the US Army in Vietnam, where he honorably completed his tour of duty.
Upon his return from serving his country, he began working in the construction industry, with most of the time spent as a General Contractor Superintendent. He loved his career and thrived on each project he worked on. He was always quick to talk about any build he happened to drive by. He married his loving and amazing wife Maria in 1974 and began a 50 year long marriage. Together they built a strong, stable and loving home for their four children.
In 2019, Rene officially became a U.S. citizen. At the naturalization ceremony, he was given a seat of honor, and special acknowledgement, for having served his country in the military. It was a proud day for both him and his family.
He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor which allowed him to do what he loved best, make people laugh. His generosity and thoughtfulness were felt by everyone he knew. Above all, he was always loyal to his family and friends.
Rene was a devoted husband to Maria J. Lozano; loving father to Angela Maddox, Rene Lozano Jr., Susana Lozano, and Ricardo Lozano; cherished grandfather to Alex Lozano, Christian Lozano, Ryan Maddox, Andrew Maddox, Judith Lozano, Mabel Lozano, and Marcy Lozano; and caring father-in law to Marisela Lozano, Christopher Maddox, and Vanessa Lozano.
He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Nicolas, Romeo, Sergio, Diana, Beatriz, and Sandra; cousins; nephews & nieces; grandnephews & grandnieces; compadres; and friends who were all the world to him. His memory will be cherished by those who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
