

Richard F. Teichgraeber, Jr., 87, passed away quietly on Sunday, the 13th of December 2009, at the Plaza of The Buckingham, Houston, Texas. Born in Emporia, Kansas on the 26th of December 1921, to Richard F. Teichgraeber and Winifred McKeown Teichgraeber, Dick Teichgraeber was a 1943 graduate of Amherst College, Amherst, Massachusetts, and served his country as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. Returning to his family home in Pelham Manor, New York, he married the love of his life, Jacqueline Flynn in 1946. After working as a Ranger for the National Park Service in Glacier National Park, Dick and Jackie returned to New York where Dick began a career in the agribusiness industry, eventually joining Houston-based Anderson Clayton & Company, where he served for many years as an executive in the Latin American division in both Sao Paulo, Brazil and in Houston, Texas. Dick leaves many wonderful friends in Houston, including his dear, special friend, Betty Medlenka, and is survived by his sons Dr. John F. Teichgraeber of Houston and Professor Richard F. Teichgraeber of New Orleans, Louisiana, and eight grandchildren: Dr. Davis Teichgraeber, Larcombe Teichgraeber, Rebecca Teichgraeber, Erin Teichgraeber, Sande Teichgraeber, Heather Teichgraeber, Matthew Teichgraeber, and Justin Teichgraeber. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jacqueline Flynn Teichgraeber, and by sons Michael G. Teichgraeber and Major William Patrick Teichgraeber. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Plaza and The Buckingham and the many loyal caregivers, including Ladonna Williams and her team, who served him so well. A memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 18th of December, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Following the memorial service, a reception will be held in the Grand Foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
