After graduation from John F. Dulles High School in Stafford, Texas he attained certification as a draftsman. Richard made a career working for various engineering firms. He was Research Manager at Weisser Engineering Company, Inc. for the last twenty-two years.
His work involved traveling to many Texas counties. He was an adventurer and enjoyed traveling to places like Peru, Taiwan, Hawaii, and the west coast.
Richard was a model son to his mother, Matilde, caring and attending to her needs.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Juan O. Torres; his brothers, John Torres, Jr., and George Torres; his nephew, Jason Torres. He is survived by his mother, Matilde S. Torres; sister, Mary Flores and husband, Ramiro A. Flores, Sr.; sister, Sally Torres; brother, Steve Torres, Sr. and wife, Rafaela Torres; sister-in-law, Nora Torres; 13 nephews and nieces and 26 great nephews and nieces.
