Rita Austin Hatten

She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Jerry of 65 years. She was an alumna of St. Pius X Catholic High School and spent her life as a dedicated homemaker and caregiver to her four daughters and their families. She was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church.

She is survived by daughters Debbie McCaskill (Jim), Cheryl Grafe (Pat), Karen Owens (Kenny), and Theresa Grahmann (Alois), 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Brother-in law George R. Hatten, III (JoAnn) and sister-in law Janet Smith (Alan) and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald (Jerry) Hatten, her parents Gordon Leo Austin Sr. and Rita Burns Austin, sister Margaret Austin Bartlett, brother Gordon Leo Austin Jr. and sister-in law Cheryl Austin.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, January 8th at 5:30 PM with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 PM at Earthman Funeral Directors in the Hunters Creek Chapel, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 9th at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston, Texas 77055 with interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.

Pallbearers are grandsons, David Grafe, Jason Kokes, Matthew Kokes, Steven Owens, Nicholas Grahmann and Garrett Grahmann.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Three Oaks Hospice and the caregivers of Senior Helpers all for their care and support.
