Robert is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cynthia Mock, who was his best friend and tireless advocate to the end. His life’s joy was his grandchildren, who loved their Pop (Poppy) and will cherish their memories of him: Elijah, Joshua and Julia Knight, Ella and Caleb Chasney, Callum and Isla Monies and Serenity Mock. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer Monies and her husband Paul, Robby Mock and his wife Tanya, Kelly Chasney and his wife Jessica, Brad Chasney, and Courtney Knight and her husband Stephen. He is further survived by his brother Carl and his wife Kim, and his sisters Paula and her husband Steve, and Kay and her husband Albert, plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Rob was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
Preceding him in death are his parents, William “Bill” and Dixie Mock.
Rob loved his job, and worked in the electrical distribution business for over 40 years. A special thank you to his company of 10 years, Turtle & Hughes, who has been nothing but supportive in recent years and went above and beyond to ensure his medical needs were met.
Rob loved sports, especially the Houston Astros and the Houston Oilers and now Texans, and in his last years their games gave him a much-needed outlet for his frustration. He loved to play golf and had a catalogue of Western movies that would make any good Texan proud. He loved good food and having lunch with his co-workers.
But, most of all he loved his family. He loved swimming with the grandkids or traveling to Dallas to drink a few with his siblings. He loved his many dogs that he fostered with his wife Cynthia through the years. He loved life and he wanted more of it, undergoing a lung transplant a year and a half ago despite the long list of risks, to get more time with those he loved.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Brookside Funeral Home in Houston, TX.
