Robert H. (Bob) Singer, age 76, of Houston, TX, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at North Cypress Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Bob Singer was born in Youngstown, OH on July 30, 1941 to the late Helen (Waltz) and Carl Singer. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 50 years, Dolores (Rejdukowski), daughter Nancy McReynolds (husband Kevin), son Robert (Bobby) Singer (wife Danielle), grandchildren, Sean McReynolds, Wade Singer, Connor Singer and Drew Singer, sisters Bonnie Singer, Barbara Ritter (husband Gene), and Mary Shankles. He was preceded in death by his brother Carl Singer II, his grandson John McReynolds, paternal father Robert McGovern and sister Barbara McGovern. Bob will be greatly missed by his many relatives, friends and co-workers from around the world, including Texas, Illinois, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Georgia.
Bob was a graduate of Rayen High School. He proudly served in the United States Armed Forces, Army Division as a teletype repairman in Korea. After which, he obtained a drafting certificate at the Allied Institute of Technology and attended the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Bob enjoyed a long career in several fields. His work started with industrial drafting, expanding into cryogenic engineering with National Cylinder Gas Company/Chemetron in Chicago, IL, from 1967-1977. He was a successful and admired salesman for much of his career. First years began in industrial sales at Process Engineering, being relocated to Houston, TX in 1980. Bob was hired by Pennzoil Company in 1988, into the IT division, implementing point of sale systems for Jiffy Lube franchise outlets and later holding the position of Manager of Personal Computer Administration until 1996. He continued his computer sales with his employment at CompUSA, Hewlett Packard, LeTigre Computing Associates, Inc., and Masterworks, Inc., retiring in 2017. Coworkers remember him as a trusted colleague, reliable mentor and great friend.
Bob donated his time and effort in several areas. He was a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, leading a troupe of Chicago inner city children for three years. He served a term as President of Chemetron Employees Credit Union and a term as President of Pines of Woodedge C.I.A.
Bob was a fantastic bowler, participating in league play with his son for 15 years. His other hobbies were saltwater fishing, cooking for family and friends, and watching sports, including his love of Nascar racing and golf. He was a lifelong animal lover, having cared for many dogs and cats throughout his life. Nothing gave him more joy then spending time with his grandsons. He was very proud of their unique special talents and generous kind hearts.
