Roberto was a natural storyteller with a huge sense of humor and a gift for conversation. He could spark a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and before long you’d find yourself laughing at one of his stories or caught up in an inside joke that somehow made you feel like you’d known him forever. He was the life of the party, not because he tried to be, but because it came naturally to him.
He worked as an electrician for Highlights, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Roberto also served as a cook for the Houston Rodeo Committee, something he truly enjoyed. Cooking was one of his love languages, especially during carne asadas. If there was a grill going, Roberto was right there, cooking, joking, and making sure everyone was fed.
Roberto loved football, baseball, and boxing. He was a loyal Astros and Texans fan. He enjoyed fantasy football, Tejano music, H-Town rap, and trying his luck at slot machines. Whether watching a game, listening to music, or just spending time with others, he knew how to enjoy life and bring people together.
Above all else, Roberto was a devoted and loving father to his sons, Lorenzo Alvarez, age 17, and Indalecio Alvarez, age 15. They were his pride and joy, and he loved them deeply. He is also survived by his parents, Felipa Alvarez and Ascencion Alvarez; his sisters, Jessica Corona and Sandy Alvarez; his brother-in-law, Alex Corona, husband of Jessica Corona; his three nieces, Aviana, Fatimah, and Inaaya; and his two nephews, Aldo and Eesa.
Roberto will always be remembered for his humor, his stories, his cooking, and the way he made people feel welcome.
