

Roger was born in Raymondville, Texas, the 4th of 8 children born to Hilda Bustamante Gonzales and Luis Garcia Gonzales.
After graduation from Milby High School in 1967, he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 and was stationed in Vietnam.
Upon his release from the military, he returned home to Houston where he began his professional career at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He later worked at Exxon USA for 27 years as a Systems Analyst, and then expanded those skills with a move to Waste Management, where he worked for 11 years as a Systems Analyst in Change Management, prior to his well-earned retirement in 2003.
He met the love of his life, Christina, during the time that they both worked for Exxon. They were joined in marriage on December 9, 1996. Their time at home was mostly spent enjoying the company of their 7 children and many grandchildren. He was truly a loving father and grandfather.
Roger enjoyed watching funny shows and movies, always caught the evening news, and rarely missed a game on TV, especially if the Houston Texans or Houston Astros were playing!
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Christina Zuniga Gonzales and his 7 children Eileen Rouse, Kenneth Bryan Gonzales, Richard Navarro, Erica Villanueva, Alicia Grace Gonzales, Christine Hill, and Isaac Adam Gonzales, all of Houston, his brothers Julian B. Gonzales of San Antonio, and Charlie Gonzales of Portland, Maine, his sister Debra Gonzales Vasquez of San Antonio, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Hilda and Luis, his brothers Luis B. Gonzales, Victor B. Gonzales, Oscar B. Gonzales, and his sister Ida Sylvia Gonzales Rodriguez.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 4pm to 8pm at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas.

The Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at American Heritage Funeral Home, followed by interment at 12:45pm at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas.
