Rose Anne Scott, a 7th generation Texan, was born on the 19th of December 1948, in Pasadena, Texas to William Hadley and Mary W. Scott. She was an honor student at Pasadena High School (Class of 1967) and was the accompanist for her high school choir. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Music. She was named the Outstanding Music Student the year she graduated. After a brief teaching career at Linder Elementary in Austin, Rose Anne moved to Houston and began working in Human Resources at Aramco, Compaq, and the Houston Chronicle. She traveled, made friends, and touched lives.
Although Rose Anne passed away on Tuesday, the 5th of March 2024, she was not elderly. She had a great sense of humor, kept up with the latest slang, and watched the news with a critical eye. She was very smart, but did not show off her intellect. She never met a stranger and delighted in purchasing gifts for family and friends that she hoped they would enjoy.
Rose Anne, named for both her grandmothers, is preceded in death by her parents, brother, several cousins, and her beloved fiancé, Dr. Al Frost.
She is survived by her sister, Laurie Mahaffey (Mike), niece Mary Bothne (Aaron), sister-in-law Nancy Scott, nephews Patrick Mahaffey, Hadley Scott, Bill Scott (Rhonda), and Mason Scott (Amber), great-nieces and nephews, cousins Nancy Wolf (Jim), Karen Teague (Roger), Randy White (Susan), Diane DeLeonardis (Nick), George Wolcott, David McKinney (Jerry), and a host of friends and cousins. She was loved by all and her sudden passing has left us devastated.
Rose Anne was a Life Member of the Texas Exes, a member of the Austin Colony Chapter, NSDAR and the William Barret Travis Chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and a longtime member of Christ Church Cathedral, where she was an usher.
