Roy Robert Bankston, Jr., age 68, passed away on July 31, 2025, in Houston, Texas. He was born on July 22, 1957, in New Iberia, Louisiana, to the late Roy Robert Bankston, Sr. and Lora Mae Schobel Bankston.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Erwin Bankston; his daughters, Alison Reneé Bankston and Bridget Anne Bankston; his sister, Sandra Poppe; his brother, Billy Bankston; and his eight wonderful nieces and nephews: Heath Poppe, Samantha Rakowitz, Chuck Bankston, Abby Bankston, Evan Ramsey, Drew Ramsey, Charlie Erwin, & Will Erwin.
Roy dedicated 42 years of his life to the oil and gas industry. Through countless company transitions—including the final merger of Baker Hughes with GE—he remained steadfast, never once laid off, a testament to his reliability and strong work ethic.
Roy found joy in the simple, steady rhythms of life outdoors: deer and duck hunting, fishing, and spending time at the farm. He was a proud and loyal fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and Bruce Springsteen, and he was happiest providing for his family, which he considered his greatest purpose.
Known for his unwavering loyalty and generous spirit, Roy would give the shirt off his back to the people he loved. Though raised Catholic, he walked a quiet spiritual path of his own. He didn’t like being the center of attention, so in his honor, warm thoughts and quiet prayers are deeply appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek, located at 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095, United States. The service is scheduled for August 6, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
