Rudy Carranza, lovingly known to many as “Joe Rudy,” passed away surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of deep faith, Rudy lived a life that reflected compassion, generosity, and unwavering dedication to others.
Rudy is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Carranza, his partner since they were just 16 years old—a love story rooted in faith, loyalty, and enduring commitment. Together, they built a beautiful family that stands as his greatest legacy.
He was a proud and loving father to his children: Michael, Christina, Mary, Veronica, and Felicia. He warmly welcomed his children-in-law—Camesha, Jeremy, Judy, John, and Jose—into the family, treating each as his own. His love extended deeply to his 12 grandchildren and to his cherished great-granddaughter, all of whom brought him immense joy.
Rudy is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Elvira Carranza, along with five brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his sisters Vidala and Frances, and his brother Ruben, who will carry forward his memory with love.
A man of strong faith, Rudy was deeply involved in Saint Leo Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and acolyte. He also dedicated his time to the ACTS ministry, guiding engaged couples in preparation for marriage and mentoring youth as they grew in their relationship with Christ. His faith was not only something he practiced—it was something he lived and shared with everyone he encountered.
At 18, Rudy answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army alongside his brother Jesse. His service reflected his lifelong sense of duty and courage. After his time in the military, he worked as a superintendent at Trees Inc., where he spent many years leading with integrity and hard work. Later, he transitioned into a career delivering machine parts, where he continued to connect with people from all walks of life.
Rudy was truly a stranger to no one. Known for his joyful spirit, sense of humor, kind heart, and generosity, he was often described as the best uncle, a loyal friend, a caring neighbor, and a “bonus dad” to many. He opened his home and his heart freely, treating his children’s friends as family and always stepping in to help those in need. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of belonging to all who knew him.
Above all, Rudy will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, gave selflessly, and lived faithfully. His legacy is one of love, service, and unwavering devotion to God and family. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
