

Raised with three brothers & four sisters in Umuaghara village in Onitcha Ezinihitte Mbaise local government area (LGA). He was known to play soccer as a young man growing up.
After high school at Eziama high school in Aba, Abia State, he left to further his career abroad in 1976. In 1980, he graduated from Texas A&I University, today known as Texas A & M University, as an Agricultural Engineer. He eventually went back home in 1984, got married on Dec 15th, 1984, and had five children. Azu was known to be a kindhearted man, who loved his family and would do anything for them. During his time in the United States, he brought his siblings abroad and supported them through their careers.
In 2004, Azu was ordained as a minister. Becoming an ordained minister was an accomplishment of which he was incredibly proud. One of his unique characteristics was that he had a golden voice when he sang and prayed. Azu would never shy away from talking about his love for religion and traditions. Azu was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus Christ. He served as a revered Associate Pastor at the Apostolic Church. He regularly hosted bible studies and provided prayer and emotional support for all those in need. Azu loved the Lord, his family, and his community.
Azu is survived by his five children - Nancy, Phyllis, Preston, Davis, and Franklin. He is also survived by his brother Israel Iheanacho and sisters, Patience Onuoha and Esther Eguzoro.
