Samuel Herbert Mingo was born on March 29, 1934 to the late Ernest and Ruby Belle Mingo in Houston, Texas. Samuel attended Jack Yates High School and enlisted in the United States Army while still in school. He served his Country proudly for several years.
Samuel met the love of his life and United in Holy Matrimony on May 10, 1964 to Ms. Velma Ray Williams. Together they nurtured a blended family; two daughters JoVon Williams and Patricia Ann Harris.
Samuel has always dedicated his life to Christ and studying the Bible was one of his favorite things to do.
Samuel became the Pastor of Ebenezer House of Prayer, he was very passionate about his members and spreading the word of God with his congregation. Samuel spent a lifelong of dedication. He was a people person and a true humanitarian.
God laid a faithful servant down gently to rest on May 16, 2020.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; sister Lois Etta, brothers Ernest Mingo Jr., Julian Ray Mingo, Vernon Williams, Lewis Johnson and Morris Johnson; daughter Patricia Ann Harris and grandson Dennis Wayne Davis II.
Samuel’s love will live on in the heart of his devoted wife of 56 years Velma Raye Mingo, daughter JoVonn Williams, grandsons Eurich Germaine Williams, Kevin Harris, and Johnathan Cooper, numerous great-grandchildren and sisters Gloria Powers and Julia Mae Coleman and a host of other family and treasured friends.
