Sandi was born on August 8, 1948, in Del Rio, Texas, to Carmen Sanchez and Victor Medina. Sandi built a long and accomplished career in finance, beginning at Mocatta Metals in New York and continuing at Drexel Burnham Lambert, Smith Barney, and Morgan Stanley in Houston, Texas. Sandi retired from Morgan Stanley in 2014.
Sandi is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Vivica Naela Miller; her sisters, Zoraida Medina and Estella Sanjur; her son-in-law, Aaron Miller; her brother-in-law, Cleto Sanjur; her grandsons, Ancil and Rafe Miller, to whom she was wholly devoted; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Sandi was a faithful woman of warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit. Sandi was a voracious reader of fiction, a talented cook, and a lover of music in all its forms—from salsa and soul to pop, country and rhythm and blues. A fierce and devoted “mama bear,” Sandi became the matriarch of the Sanchez family, carrying forward the love and traditions of those who came before her.
Sandi will be remembered for her radiant smile, her uninhibited laughter, her deep and genuine love for family and friends, and the beautiful handmade crafts she created—treasures that will live on in the hearts and homes of those who loved her.
Sandi’s presence was a gift, and her memory will continue to bring comfort and strength to all who knew her. Sandi will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts.
A Rosary will be held at Brookside Home-Cypress Creek, 9149 Hwy 6 N, Houston, Texas 77095 on April 25, 2026 at 12:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be afterwards from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
