

Sharon Kim (Ogata), age 67 was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 6th, 2025.
Sharon to all who knew her except her mother and brother, who called her Sheri was born to Arthur and Agnes Ogata on November 9, 1957, in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1977, in satisfaction of her servant’s heart and goal of becoming a Registered Nurse, she attended and graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in nursing and remained in the Seattle area until her passing.
Growing up in Honolulu, Sharon enjoyed snorkeling at Hanauma Bay and especially loved swimming with the Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu). Sharon was also active in her high school marching band. Sharon had a lifelong love of the water and the lush foliage she grew up with in Hawaii. Paramount in Sharon’s life was her discovering Jesus in her mid-teen years. Sharon pursued learning about and dedicating her life to Jesus through joining myriad Christian organizations, from Navigator’s in college to BSF and many other bible study groups.
After college, Sharon served for a brief time with Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India, working with the neediest of people in the slums of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a true inspiration for Sharon. She then pursued a 45-year long career with Swedish Hospital, working in numerous departments, including: cancer care, organ transplant, main surgery, and outpatient surgery. Sharon was a consummate professional and cared for her patients with the highest level of care and commitment.
Sharon was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, friend, and coworker, and will be sadly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her mother Agnes Ogata, her brother Dudley (Dukie) Ogata, husband Mark Lukso; her two children, Allyson (Paul) Harris and David Kim; stepchildren Matt (Sage) Lukso, Thomas (Maddie) Lukso and Elyse Lukso. Also surviving are her grandchildren Emiko, Akira and Mia Harris and Sophie, Beau and Owen Lukso-Seal; sister-in-law Cathe (Bob) Cunningham and brothers-in-law Rick (Sharon) Lukso, Dennis (Mellie) Lukso, Scott (Suzi) Lukso. Sharon also leaves behind many special friends that she has treasured throughout her life, including her beloved church family.
The family invites friends to Mountlake Church, located at 23302 56th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043, to gather for a Memorial Service celebrating Sharon’s life on Saturday, February 15th from 11:00 AM until the service begins at 11:30 AM. There will be a light lunch immediately following the service at Mountlake Church.
