Sheila is preceded in death by her mother Esther Sio, and her stepson Derek Cemer. She is survived by her husband Ronald, daughter Clarissa, father Tat Ming Sio, brother Hock Chuan Sio, and her sister Selena Bett.
She got her bachelor's degree in finance and marketing from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
Her favorite activities included traveling, hosting parties, giving gifts to her loved ones, scrapbooking, cooking for her friends and family, and of course being a fashionista.
Sheila was a very thoughtful and considerate person with a sweet disposition and a genuine love for everyone she knew. Her love for her husband and daughter were unbounded. She loved to host large get-togethers at the Cemer home. She spent years cooking meals for the church and co-leading Wednesday night music services with her husband. Sheila loved her husband's son, Derek, as if he were her own son, and raised him well.
Sheila was no stranger to suffering. She developed Lupus in the early 2000's, and had regular battles with this debilitating, chronic disease. Despite this, she was able to travel and enjoy vacations with her family. In July 2023, the family took a trip to the Bahamas, Miami, and the Florida Keys.
Sheila and her husband participated in the annual Walk to End Lupus 5k twice.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lupus Foundation of America are greatly needed and appreciated.
A visitation for Sheila will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home - Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Pkwy, Houston, TX 77068. A celebration of life will occur Friday, November 10 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home - Champions.
