Shirley Ann McKnight

Shirley met the love of her life Patrick Henry McKnight Jr. in Houston, Texas and married on October 7, 1955. Together they created a union that lasted for 40 years. Through their union, they were blessed with 4 children. Shirley worked as a switchboard operator at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Houston, Texas for 10 years.

She loved crossword puzzles, board games, Yahtzee, Scrabble and Monopoly. Shirley also loved sewing and writing letters in her spare time. Ultimately, her greatest love was spending time with her family, from cooking, to spending holidays with them, family reunions, and birthdays.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick Henry McKnight Jr.; sister, Mary Louise Roberts; grandchild, John Collier.

She is survived by daughters, Carol & husband David Collier, Terri Sanders, and Patti & husband Edward Velasquez; son, Patrick McKnight III & wife Dana McKnight; 11 grandchildren, Mary, Leigh, Chester II, Melissa, Jennifer, Amy, Bethany, Christina, Christopher, Patrick IV, and Ashley; 11 great grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, Collin, Madelyn, Raegan, Kay Lynn, Daniele, Amelia, Julian, Andres, and Lilia; 3 great great grandchildren, Levi, Ryan, and Olive.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 6:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. Funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM with a burial to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are Patrick McKnight III, Patrick McKnight IV, Edward Velasquez, Christopher Velasquez, Jose Castillo, and Clayton Bailey.
