Shirley grew up in Kingsville, Texas, where she attended King High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&I. She had a keen eye for beauty and creativity, which she expressed through her work as an antique dealer, boutique owner, and later as a realtor.
Her passion for design and beauty extended beyond her career—she was an avid gardener and chef who found joy in gathering with family and friends, and making both indoor and outdoor spaces more beautiful. Beloved for her joyous spirit and ever-present smile, Shirley never met a stranger. Her zest for life brightened every room and made those around her feel welcome.
Shirley was always up for an adventure, whether it was travelling the world or exploring the Oregon coast during her 12 years in Portland, Oregon. She was a fun and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer and Amy, and her husband Kenny; her granddaughter, Eliza; step-granddaughter, Abigail; three nieces, Pat and her husband John, Sherry, and Maria; three nephews, Pat, Rodney, and Charles; as well as many cousins. Shirley’s kindness, light and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her radiance and memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
A funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 1st of March, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family and share remembrances of Shirley during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
For those unable to attend the service in-person, virtual attendance may be accessed by visiting Ms. Morris' online memorial tribute at GeoHLewis.com and selecting the “Join Livestream” icon on the service section. While there, you may also share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with her family by selecting the “Add a Memory” icon.
The family will gather for a private interment in Lewisville, Texas, next to her loving mother Rose Reed.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Shirley’s name may be directed to the Amazing Place online at AmazingPlaceHouston.org.
