Shuntessa was very creative and artistic growing up. She loved designing clothes, sewing, cooking and helping others. She attended B.C. Elmore Middle School, where she met her sweetheart Ernest Bo Lang. She later attended Forest Brook High School where she flourished as a top student. Her love of education was deeply rooted.
On December 10, 1982 Shuntessa gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl, her only child, named NaToya Sheree Murphy. She loved, spoiled and thought the world of her baby girl. She was her forever princess.
Shuntessa graduated from Forest Brook High School class of 1984. She graduated from University of Houston with a Bachelor’s of Science in Technology. She received Certifications in Quality Assurance from University of Houston and also a certification in Spanish.
After graduating college she went on to have a successful career as a computer and business analyst in the oil and gas industry. She worked at Enron and El Paso Energy for many years. She also joined Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance of Dr. Marcus Cosby.
Shuntessa stayed busy with pursuing her dreams and doing the things she was passionate about. She absolutely loved Fashion, Entertaining, being Innovative and creating luxurious interior designs. She also loved her family deeply. She had a helping hand with raising nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, everyone called her Aunt Borah. Aunt Borah was selfless, dependable, and there wasn’t a soul that didn’t enjoy her precious presence. She will be loved forever by family and friends. Her memory and spirit will live on through her daughter “Toy” and everyone she loved.
She was preceded in death by her longtime boyfriend, Ernest Lang, Jr.; Father, Earnest “King Dog” Murphy; Sister, Tameika Murphy; Niece, Jacketha Perkins; Grandmother, Jessie Mary Bedford Perkins; Grandfather, James Artez Perkins.
She leaves to mourn her memory: Daughter, NaToya Murphy; Son-in-law, Jacorie Gafford; Mother, Allie Faye Murphy; One Sister, Jacquea Perkins; One Brother, Earnest James Murphy III, and a host of special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends
