

Sidney A. Pinina, 88, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2015 at the Kindred Town and Country Hospital. He was born October 27, 1926 in Houston, Texas to Tony Pinina and Rosie Pinina.
At the age of 24, after serving our nation during WWII, he entered the grocery business with his father, Tony. Eventually, Sidney opened his own store in the Sunnyside area naming it Famous Foodtown. In later years, he would own and operate Sid’s Foodtown in Southwest Houston for over 20 years. He was a very successful businessman over a period of 50 years using his business acumen and creativity to explore new and innovative ways to grow the business.
After retiring, he pursued various hobbies and interests, including gardening, cooking and baking, especially for the holidays….bringing his passion and creativity to each.
Sidney was very proud of his four sons and their wives Anthony and Carolyn, Gary and Ferra, Rodney and D’Ann, Christopher and Lisa. He is also survived by his former wife Antoinette Pinina, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, as well as his many loving nieces, nephews, and Nancy Lawrence, longtime close friend with whom he shared many life interests. During those many years of sharing, Nancy lovingly fulfilled and enhanced our dad’s life.
