His 3 year battle with cancer ended peacefully with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Lennie, his sons Zane and Cody, his brother and sister-in-law Robin and Mary Hill, and many beloved brothers and sister-in-law. He also leaves behind 15 neices and nephews whom he cherished and loved deepley.
Stan and his father were both in the Air Force, so he lived many places in the United States and around the world. Stan graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX where he was recruited as a cross country and track star; winning a Southwest Conference Championship. Stan worked for Columbia Gulf Transmission for 20 years and most recently for Enbridge, both in the area of gas control. During the interim between the two jobs he was a substitiute teacher at The Regis School, where his two sons attended pre-K through 8th grade. There, and during our years at St. Thomas High School, we all made lifelong friends.
Stan’s battle with cancer was long and difficult. However, through the love and support of family and friends, he was able to keep a positive attitude and his sense of humor. Though the battle waged for a long time, we were amazed by how many wondeful people came to our aid. He loved all the visitors and cards and well wishes he received and it helped him to realize how many lives he touched and how many people loved him. We recently joked about the movie It’s a Wondeful Life, and he said “George Baily has nothing on me.”
In his spare time Stan immersed himself in music. He played guitar and sang for family and friends at social gatherings and loved going to live music events. Stan loved his wife and children more than anything in the world. He was very involved in his sons’ academic and athletic endeavors and coached several of their basketball teams. He brought this same love and dedication to every facet of his life. This passion for living, friends and family are the reasons he was beloved and will be missed by so many.
