

Steven Michael Boon, age 51, of Houston, Texas, passed away on March 31, 2017. Steve was born in Bristol, PA on March 7, 1966. Steve was married to the love of his life and best friend, Julie Harris Boon, for 21 years. Steve’s career was fueled by his mission to create space for men and women to recover from drug and alcohol addiction. Over the past 20 years, he worked for The Right Step, Nova Recovery Center and owned Extended Aftercare with his wife, Julie.
Steve was extremely active in 12-step recovery, and had recently celebrated 25 years of continuous sobriety. Over the past 15 years, he was a member of The Mankind Project, including serving as Chairman and Vice-Chairman on their Board of Directors. Steve was a member of the Extended Aftercare Alumni Association for over 24 years, as well as serving on their Board for many years. Along with his wife, he was passionate about helping couples heal their relationships, and served as a facilitator for The Couples Weekend for the past 12 years.
Steve was best known for his larger-than-life personality, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his unique ability to inspire others and create a spark of hope in those who find themselves in a hopeless state of mind and body. His compassion, his generosity of spirit and his willingness to genuinely connect with others has impacted the lives of thousands of men and women who chose to recover from addiction. He will be remembered for his welcoming smile, his unique sense of humor, his authenticity and his insistence on enjoying life.
Whenever possible, Steve loved fishing with his wife and friends. The Boondocks in the piney woods of East Texas was his favorite place to spend quiet time, and where he could be found on most weekends. Steve loved spending time outdoors, including hunting and playing golf. He was a huge fan of a wide variety of music, and truly enjoyed sharing good times and a good meal with his friends and family.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Harris Boon, his mother , Heide Kohrs, his son, Jason , his grand-daughter Harper, his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Laura Boon, his nephew Tommy Boon, his niece, Mia Boon, his in-laws, Jim and Nancy Harris, and brother-in-law, Mark Harris. He is also survived by three loving cats, Misty, Joker and Ricky Bobby, who will miss him very much.
