

Steve Gullion, at the age of 67, passed away on May 3, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Steve lived a life marked with a sharp and inventive mind, a deep love for his family and a rich array of passions.
A proud Eagle Scout in his youth, Steve graduated from Robert E. Lee High School ‘77 and went on to attend Texas A&M University earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering ‘81. This strong foundation and a gift for problem solving paved the way for a successful career in the oil and gas industry.
Steve lent his expertise to several companies but mainly Cameron Iron Works and BP America. In 1993, Steve achieved the distinction as a Professional Engineer and in 2014 he took an entrepreneurial leap to build his own company, Subsea Well Solutions, Inc. Through his business, he provided invaluable consulting services to a multitude of organizations, earning the respect of his peers across the industry.
Beyond his professional life, Steve was a man of many interests. A devoted oenophile, his love for wine inspired him to pursue a certificate in Viticulture from Texas Tech University. He brought this passion to life right at home, meticulously cultivating his own Blanc du Bois vineyard in his backyard. Steve was an avid amateur astronomer who loved looking at the stars. Having worked abroad early in his career, he loved being a world traveler whether it was with his wife or a group of golfing friends. He was a massive fan of both James Bond and the band The Eagles. Steve was always ready for a round of golf, enjoying a lively game of cards, relaxing with a scotch or a glass of wine on the back patio or catching up with his friends at EOT. Steve embraced life to the fullest and brought joy to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy James and Lou Gullion, and his sister, Debra Gullion.
Steve’s legacy is carried on by his loving devoted wife of 35 years, Barbara; his sons, Greg (wife Christina and daughter Lillia) and Ryan; his stepson, Kyle Fowler (wife Elizabeth and children Brianna, Mason (daughter Saylor Mae) & Brian; his sister, Sandra Walker (son Blake); his sister, Diana O’Neal (husband Rick and children Audrey and Tyler (wife Rachel)); and his favorite brother, Uncle Phil.
Steve will be remembered as a dedicated engineer, a loving family man and a loyal friend. He leaves behind a legacy as expansive and enduring as the night sky he so loved to study.
