Susan von Gonten passed away on September 30, 2013, after a brief illness. A long time resident of Houston, she is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Bessie von Gonten of Jersey Village. Susan is survived by: her brothers, Charles M. von Gonten and his wife Jeannine of Houston; Glenn von Gonten and his wife Susan of Santa Fe, New Mexico; her uncle John Robert von Gonten of New Braunfels; numerous nieces and nephews, their children; and many close friends and neighbors.
Susan was a dedicated blood donor. She devoted immeasurable time and effort to the welfare of the local community and her neighbors. She was an avid gardener, gourmet cook, nature lover, and dog fancier.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Scott H. von Gonten, Keith E. von Gonten, Darren Owen, Daniel Owen, John Winans and her friend, Robert DeVillier, Jr.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, October 4, 2013, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, October 5, 2013.
