我深深感激能夠獲此殊榮，與大家分享朱伯母在我生命中所帶來的積極和屬靈的影響。

歌羅西書 3:17
「無論做什麼，或說話或行事，都要奉主耶穌的名，藉著祂感謝父神。」
 對我而言，這節經文完美地體現了我的屬靈母親——朱伯母寶貴的一生。

提摩太後書 4:7-8
「那美好的仗我已經打過了，當跑的路我已經跑盡了，所信的道我已經守住了。從此以後，有公義的冠冕為我存留，就是按公義審判的主到了那日要賜給我的；不但賜給我，也賜給凡愛慕祂顯現的人。」
 朱伯母確實剛強地跑完了她的人生賽程。

箴言 22:6
「教養孩童，使他走當行的道，就是到老他也不偏離。」
 這節經文反映了朱伯母在我生命中的影響，我相信她對兩位女兒——Julia 和 Constance 也是如此。

朱伯母是一位敬虔忠心的耶穌僕人。她每日為耶穌而活，常常讚美和感謝神。她深愛耶穌，忠心地與祂同行。她每日無間斷地讀聖經和禱告。她也常常以詩歌敬拜讚美神。她的信仰堅如磐石，絲毫不會動搖。

我在青少年時期已認識了朱伯母，她是神賜給我的生命的極大祝福。就如樹根扎實地支撐著大樹，朱伯母用聖經支撐我滋養我，幫助我成為耶穌的忠實跟隨者。無論何時我需要幫助或指引，朱伯母總是不離不棄的在我身旁根據聖經的教導給我幫助或指引。

讓我舉幾個例子：

當我在高中曾經大病時沒有上課，要面臨被學校開除及遣離美國的風險時，朱伯母不僅為我懇切禱告，她還請求李靈新牧師為我出面向校長求情。靠著神的恩典與憐憫，我才得以順利中學畢業。

當我生病時，朱伯母親自為我針灸，幫助我恢復健康。她在生活中以行動見證了耶穌的愛與憐憫。

當我對未來感到迷茫時，她接待我在她的家中，提供一個安全的地方，讓我可以禁食禱告，靜心思想和尋求神為我準備的路向。儘管我在休士頓沒有親人，朱伯母卻給了我一個溫暖的「家」。

當我從多倫多打電話給她時，她從不間斷的提醒我耶穌的愛。並敦促我忠心禱告、研讀聖經、跟隨基督。我們的對話通常都以她為我祈求耶穌的保守與祝福作結。

當我有時忘記打電話給她時，她會主動打電話給我，確保我一切安好，並提醒我要持續與耶穌同行。

去年我去探望朱伯母時，她雖然已失去大部分的說話能力，但奇蹟般地，她仍然能夠高聲歌唱聖詩讚美神！我親眼見證她用洪亮的聲音、滿懷喜樂地唱出《祢真偉大》和《祢的信實廣大》。

在我探望朱伯母的最後一天，她緊緊擁抱著我，輕聲地對我說：「耶穌愛你，我也愛你。」如果沒有她敬虔的影響，我不會有今天的成就。

然而，儘管朱伯母深愛我們，她最愛的是耶穌基督。如今，朱伯母已與主同在。而我確信——有一天，我們將在天堂再相見，彼此舉手讚美耶穌，永遠同享榮耀！

When I got very sick in high school and was absent from school for an extended time, I therefore was at risk of being expelled and deported from the US.  In addition to praying for me, Mrs. Chu also went and sought help from Rev. Franklin Lee.  Rev. Lee pleaded with my high school principal. By the grace of God and His mercy, I was allowed to stay on and complete my high school education.

When I was sick, Mrs. Chu administered acupuncture and got me back on my feet.  She modelled Jesus in her daily living. Mrs. Chu sang of God’s love, goodness, and faithfulness with great joy and delight.

When I was uncertain about my future, Mrs. Chu hosted me and provided me a safe place to stay in her home for prayer and fasting. Although I had no family in Houston, Mrs. Chu provided me a place to call home.

Whenever I called Mrs. Chu from Toronto, she always convicted me of Jesus’ love and encouraged me to faithfully and consistently pray, study the scriptures and follow Jesus. Our calls usually ended with her praying for Jesus to protect and bless me.  

When I sometimes forgot to call her, Mrs. Chu would call me and checkup on me to make sure that I am well and walking with Jesus.  

When I visited Mrs. Chu last year, she had lost most of her ability to speak but miraculously she was still able to sing hymns. I witnessed her singing the hymns “How Great Thou Art” and “Great is Thy Faithfulness” at the top of her lungs with great joy.

On my last day of visit, Mrs. Chu embraced and hugged me tightly. She whispered faintly in my ear – Jesus loves me and she loves me. I would not be where I am today if not for Mrs. Chu’s godly influence. Though Mrs. Chu loved me very much, she loved Jesus the most. She is now with Jesus and I am confident and certain we will meet again in Heaven – praising Jesus together with our hands lifted high.

A life well-lived is a life remembered with love, Mrs. Chu, you will be missed.

Psalm 34 comes to mind as I remember the life and legacy of our dearly departed Mrs. Chu.  I met Mrs. Chu through my husband, Jeffrey, almost 40 years ago in Houston, Texas.  Mrs. Chu was always godly, wise and graceful.  She had indeed lived a life that extolled the Lord at all times despite the many challenges and difficulties throughout her life.  Every conversation we had, Mrs. Chu constantly spoke His praises.  In the last couple of years, her throat muscle degenerated to a point that affected her speech; but that didn't stop Mrs. Chu from singing hymns to continue to praise God.  The quiet strength in Mrs. Chu reflected the deep faith she had in Jesus.

This picture of Mrs. Chu was taken when she came visited us in 2012.  Over dinner she shared with us her life and spiritual journey from Hong Kong to Hawaii and then to Houston.  She could not stop praising the Lord that she almost forgot eating her dinner.  

Our dearest Mrs. Chu, thank you so much for giving to the Lord. We, especially Jeffrey, are a life that was changed.  You have fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. May you rest in peace in the Lord now.  Now that you are in the another "H city", i.e. Heaven, we will go find you when we reach there someday to worship the Lord and listen to your sharing eternally together.  Praise God for our eternal hope in Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Psalm 34:1-8 (NIV) I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
