

Terry was born in Peru, Indiana on May 30, 1950, where he lived until the mid 1960s with his parents and 2 siblings, and attended Logansport High school. He enlisted in the US Army at age 17, and received his GED.
Upon completion of specialized training MOS 11B10, he was a Specialist E4. Very shortly after, Terry was stationed at Ben Hoa in South Vietnam. He served 2 tours, including the 1968 and 1969 Tet Offensives in Saigon as a part of Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Regiment CAV, 1st Cavalry, Air Mobile. Receiving his Combat Infantry Badge, he also received 2 Army Accommodation Medals, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, 2 Republic Of Vietnam Gallantry Crosses with the Palm Unit citation, 2 Meritorious Unit Commendations, the Valorous Unit Award, and Republic Of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal with 1st Class Citation. He then worked in Support Command, 1st CAV Division. He was Honorably Discharged in 1972 in Fort Riley, Kansas.
After completion of his service, he moved his family to Houston, TX. While working in the construction industry for several years, he went back to school and completed the necessary courses to become a certified ICC Structural Building Inspector. Then using his knowledge of the construction industry, he began his business working with individuals and companies in the Houston and surrounding areas utilizing his expertise and leadership skills.
In May, 1969, Terry met Sylvia Silva in Lafayette, Indiana. They dated until January, 1971 when they married. They had a daughter, Cristina Marie Black, in June 1973.
When he was younger, Terry and his brother Timmy sheared sheep with their father and hunted, fished and trapped along the Eel River in Logansport. He continued hunting throughout his life for as long as he was able. He enjoyed wood carving, especially bird houses and continued doing so for as long as he could until sickness began to affect his ability to hold his tools. His most favorite things, however were spending time with his wife, daughter, and beloved cat, Molly, watching movies and laughing together.
Terry is proceeded in death by his father, Robert Lee Black (1975), his mother, Norma Jean Baker (2007), his stepfather, Forrest Baker (1988), and his younger brother, Timmy Joe Black (2013). He is survived by his sister, Dixie Lee, and wife, Sylvia Black of 54 years, his daughter, Cristina Black and his cat, Molly. He has several aunts, many cousins, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews across the country. He also had many friends that he loved to hang out with when he could.
Terry believed in charity, and donated to several causes including Tunnels To Towers and other programs that supported Veterans.
Terry was a Christian, and a strong believer in Jesus Christ. He loved studying his Bible with his wife and daughter and learning everything he could about his Savior, Who he served from the age of 7 until his passing, as he entered into Eternal Rest. He lived with honor, integrity, devotion to his family, and dedication to his country.
Sylvia and Cristina express their thankfulness to the many who have shared their condolences, time, and patience. All of your love, thoughts, actions, words, and prayers have been fuel and comfort for us. There have been so many of you. We see you. Know that nothing you have done has gone without notice.
