Born and raised in the near Northside of Houston, Terry graduated from Sam Houston High School before dedicating 34 years of service as a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service. He and his beloved wife, Barbara, built a beautiful life together, raising their three children in Spring Branch before retiring in Cypress, Texas. Just last Saturday, February 15th, they celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage.
Terry was a man of deep faith and generosity. For over 57 years, he was a devoted member of Heights Presbyterian Church, where he served as an active Elder and played a vital role in organizing the monthly Community Outreach Meals and Food Pantry. His kindness and dedication touched the lives of many in his church and community.
Family was at the heart of everything Terry did. He loved spending time at his country home in Caldwell, fishing with his cousin John Allen, and going deer hunting. Summers were filled with family vacations, often alongside his dear friends Mary, Buddy, and Chris Martin. In later years, he discovered a passion for cooking, preparing meals for his loved ones and the Community Meals at church. After retiring from the USPS, he, Barbara, and Fay Nell started Antiques Too, where they bought, refurbished, and resold antiques, sharing their appreciation for history and craftsmanship.
Known for his quick wit and even quicker phone calls—he mastered the art of the 30-second check-in—Terry loved connecting with those around him. He enjoyed watching and cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all their activities, as well as faithfully following the Houston Astros. He also had a soft spot for his feline companions, Bandit and CJ, and a lifelong love for Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream.
Terry is deeply loved by his family, church family, and many friends. His generous spirit, humor, and unwavering love will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
Surviving Terry is his wife, Barbara Myers; children, Cindy (Paul) Petrash, Suzy (Al) Cisne, and Rick (Kimberly) Myers; grandchildren, Kirk Petrash, Kirby (Nick) Steiner, Margeaux Petrash, Jared Cisne, Clay Myers, and Makayla Myers-Pereira (Gerzon); and great-grandchildren, Kaiser, Keagan, and Koa Steiner.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Olin and Nan Myers; and his sister, Fay Nell Fitze.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 1st at 10:30 AM at Heights Presbyterian Church, 240 W. 18th Street, Houston, Texas 77008.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heights Presbyterian Church in honor of Terry’s passion for the Community Meals/Food Pantry.
