

On July 18, 1934, Thena Margaret Thompson Whigham Simmons was born to Pearl Craig and Ollie Thompson in Bethany, Louisiana.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Spring Ridge, Louisiana. She later united with New Providence Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.
Thena Simmons worked at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the medical center for 19 years in the Building Services Department. In 1978 she was recognized as Employee of the Month for continuous loyalty and outstanding performance.
Thena married Walter Whigham, who preceded her in death. To this union, three children were born, Caster Whigham (deceased); Brenda Whigham Grogan (Jackie), and Richard Whigham. Thena later met and married Clarence Simmons (deceased). Thena was a Wife, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend.
Some of her favorite things to do was drink coffee, talk on the phone to her sisters and friends, and watch television.
To cherish her memories: daughter, Brenda Grogan (Jackie) Richard Whigham, son; Big Sister, Louise Green. Grandchildren: Shaketha Flagg (Corey Sr.), Caster Avante Blackman-Whigham, Jay Grogan, Whitney Allen (Reggie), Great-Grandchildren: Kyaira Flagg, Corey Flagg Jr. and Caleb Flagg; Great-Great Grandchildren: Alana Allen and Camille Allen; Brother-In-Law A.R. Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Thena is preceded in death by her husband Clarence Simmons, son Caster Whigham, parents Ollie and Pearl Thompson, five brothers; Carnell, L.C., Barnette, Fred, and Alfred; sisters; Mary, Signora, Martha, Bernice, and Ollie Mae.
