Tieh Sheng Ting

Teddy was born on June 5th, 1955, in Taiwan, to his loving parents Chin Hou Ting and Shuh-Chen Sung. He was raised alongside his siblings Mary Jo, Theresa, Tina, Frank, and Loretta, forming cherished memories and bonds that lasted a lifetime.

Teddy's journey led him to Houston, where he pursued his passion as a cook, leaving a mark in numerous restaurants across the city. Later in life, after his mother's passing, Teddy devoted himself to Guanyin Pusa, embodying compassion and benevolence in all aspects of his life.

He made the profound decision to abstain from meat, embracing a vegetarian lifestyle, and dedicated himself to meditation, practicing twice daily. Teddy's commitment to compassion extended beyond words, as he demonstrated his kindness in countless ways.

He was known for his unfailing friendliness and empathy, often collecting coke cans for the homeless to trade for petty cash, exemplifying his deep compassion for those in need. Teddy's love for all living beings was evident in his actions, such as his trips to Asian supermarkets to purchase live crabs from the seafood department, only to release them back into the wild in Galveston.

His compassion knew no bounds, as he refused to harm even the smallest creatures, gently catching wasps with his bare hands to release them safely outside.

Teddy's legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever dwell in the hearts of those who were touched by his unwavering goodness.

Mr. Tieh Sheng Ting is preceded in death by his father, Chin Hou Ting, his mother, Shuh-Chen Sun, his wife, Yen Ping Ting and his brother, Frank Ting.

He is survived by daughter, Katie Ting Fang, her husband, Tony Fang and granddaughter, Lily. His sons Larry Ting and Eric Ting. Tieh Sheng Ting's sisters Mary Jo Cheng, Theresa Feng, Tina Jakowitsch and Mann Ying Chong. And many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition, too many close friends to list.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
