Born on June 15, 1944, in Hubei, China, Mr. Chan spent his early years in Hong Kong before immigrating to the United States with his family in 1969 and settling in Houston, Texas. He initially established a career as an electrician and general contractor, later becoming a successful entrepreneur. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Mr. Chan was actively involved in supporting Houston’s Chinese Community.
In 1982, he founded Budget Restaurant Supply, which has since grown to become one of the nation's largest foodservice equipment dealers. His dedication and commitment played a critical role both in building the company and in strengthening his family.
Mr. Chan was predeceased by his parents, Tai Hon and Fung Ying Chan. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathy Yung Ying Chan; sons Jack Chan, Tom Chan, and David Chan; and grandchildren Tom Jr., Lisette, Josephine, Jaime, Justin, Katherine, and Christopher.
As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mr. Chan leaves a lasting legacy and will be remembered by all who knew him.
