Vera L. Thompson, 79, of Houston, Texas, passed into eternal rest on July 16, 2021. She was born in Florien, Louisiana on July 8, 1942 to parents Willie Homes Sr. and Seller Bee Sweet. She graduated from Sabine High School and received her high school diploma. Vera married Wilkie Thompson, Sr. on July 1, 1961 and together they raised three children.
Vera worked as a sales person for Sears for 20 years. She was a devout member and usher of Greater Love Baptist Church. She had a passion for gardening, baseball, and reading her Bible.
Left to cherish her memories are her children Wilkie Thompson, Jr, Gary Thompson and Lisa Jijon; grandchildren, Wilkie Thompson III, Tonya Courville, John Thompson, Jason Thompson, Imari Davis, Jailisa Jones and Jesus Jijon Jr.; Brother, John Holmes and sister DeLois Pegues.
Family and Friends are invited to a visitation starting at 8:30am with a funeral service to follow on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 10:30am at Brookside Funeral Home 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A graveside burial to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
