Vicente Mier

Vicente was preceded in death by both of his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Linh Doan-Mier; daughter, Eileen Christina Mier; brothers, Pat Mier, Lupe Mier and Pete Mier; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

Vicente was a graduate of St. Thomas High School, Class of ’62; University of St. Thomas, Class of ‘66; and The University of Virginia. He earned his Bachelor’s degree with a double major in English and Spanish and his Master’s of Middle Century English at the University of Virginia. He retired from the Houston Community College System after 33 years in education and as an Administrator of Adult Education.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service and Rosary recited that evening at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian of Burial will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 7720 Boone Road, Houston, Texas, 77072, on Friday, July 29, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 9759 or Notre Dame Catholic Church.
