

Vic was born on September 23, 1933, in Temple, Texas, to the late Victor and Lydia Spanhel Lehotsky. He grew up in Temple and graduated from Temple High School in 1951. He went on to Temple Junior College and then to Texas A&M University, where he received Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Petroleum Engineering and Industrial Engineering in 1957.
After college, he started his successful career with Continental Oil Company (Conoco, Inc) and enjoyed 36 years of dedicated service with various career project assignments in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Career activities included all aspects of oil and gas drilling, production, natural gas processing, underground storage of hydrocarbons, and buying and selling oil and gas producing properties. He retired from Conoco in 1992 as the Senior Project Director for Reserve Acquisitions and Asset Management in the North American Exploration and Production Department.
During his career assignment in Corpus Christi, Texas, he met the love of his life, Jeanette "Janet" Gillespie, and they were soon married. In 1967, they moved to Houston, Texas. Jeanette had a son, Mark, and a daughter, Janel, when they were married. Their son Walt was born in September of 1967 and shares the same birthday as Vic. His grandson Noah was born in 1997, and his great-granddaughter, Delilah, was born in late 2024. He loved spending family time together.
He enjoyed music, ballroom dancing with his wife Jeanette, and family time with many relaxing trips to Port Aransas. Over the years, the family was active with Westbury United Methodist Church, and years later, he was a member of First United Methodist Church in Houston.
Vic was a wonderful, caring man, husband, father, stepfather, son, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Lehotsky, and his parents.
Vic is survived by his son, Walter "Walt" (Rhonda), grandson, Noah (Amber), great-granddaughter, Delilah, step-daughter Janel Gillespie, stepson Robert "Mark" Gillespie (Kelly), sister Marie Sherman, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a Celebration of Vic's Life at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, US, on March 21, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
