Our community has disparagingly lost a wholesome rockstar on Tuesday, January 26th, 2021, when Vincent Perez Jr., favorably known as “Pops,” passed away at the age of 55. He was born on December 1st, 1965 in Houston, Texas, where he also lived the duration of his life. As the son of Vincent Perez, Sr. and Juana Louise Perez, brother of Gregory Perez, and significantly influential family member and friend to many others, Pops shared his love with many who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him, as well as received a great ordeal of appreciation from those around him. With such a caringly bright spirit, his optimism filled every space he entered, along with the aroma of the delicacies he was constantly creating. His talent and love for cooking was no question, as he was a rockstar in the kitchen, and literally, for he had a great adoration for the rock band KISS.
Pops is survived by his father, Vincent Perez, Sr.; brother, Gregory Perez; sister-in-law, Flor Perez; niece, Deanna Perez; nephew, Gregory Perez Jr.; Adam Aguirre, who he helped raise and loved as a son, and many other family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Garcia Perez; mother, Juana Louise Perez; and grandparents Consuelo “Connie” and Rodolfo Gaona.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Pops touched are invited to the visitation being held on Monday, February 22nd from 2pm-9pm at Funeraria Del Angel, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. A committal service will occur Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
