Our beloved, Virginia Ortega Cortinas, entered into God’s Kingdom on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She was born to Anacleto G. and Virginia R. Ortega on June 10, 1954, in Houston, Texas.
On August 30, 1975, Virginia married Jose (Joe) A. Cortinas, a match truly made in heaven. Virginia and Joe went on to have two children, Denise and Anthony.
Virginia was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost. She loved her home church, El Mesias Methodist Church and every church her husband pastored. She loved sharing the love and warmth of our Savior, Jesus, with as many people as possible. She was part of the Emmaus Community and the Methodist Women of El Mesias. She also dedicated 46 years of working with Parten Operating, a true loyal employee and friend.
Virginia joins her parents, Anacleto G. and Virginia R. Ortega in Heaven. She is survived by many loving family members, including her husband of 49 years, Pastor Jose (Joe) A. Cortinas; children Denise (Matt) Castillo and Anthony (Mirna) Cortinas; her nine cherished grandchildren: Samuel Isaac, Sara Grace and Abigail Faith Castillo; Gabriel Anthony, Mateo, Mirna, Nathaniel Seth, Natalia Virginia Cortinas and Ismael Saul Lara. Siblings: Elizabeth O. Escamilla, Emilio R. Ortega, Joe R. (Patsy) Ortega and Antonia O. (Greg) Fritsche; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. As well as her Parten Operating Family, Church family and friends.
While we grieve her passing, we find solace in the hope of Christ’s resurrection and the assurance that we will one day be reunited in God’s eternal kingdom.
The family would like to thank her doctors, Dr. Han Dang, Dr. Julie Rowe and Dr. Olubunmi Ogundadegbe for the wonderful care they gave Virginia over the years. The family would also like to thank the staff of Accent Care Hospice for the loving care they gave Virginia in the last 4 months of her life.
