Virginia Martinez

Virginia Salazar Martinez peacefully transitioned to be with our Lord and blessed family on December 28, 2024. Born on September 4, 1936, to Luciano and Petronila Salazar, she was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched countless lives with her kindness and unwavering faith.

Virginia graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1957 and went on to serve her country with honor in the United States Coast Guard Reserve from May 7, 1957, to May 6, 1960. On August 16, 1969, she married the love of her life, Jesse Martinez, with whom she shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family and a legacy of devotion and strength.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Luciano and Petronila Salazar; her brothers, Luciano (Maria) and Mario (Ernestine); and her sister, Alice Luna (Edward).

She is survived by her husband, Jesse Martinez; her children, Geneva (Jason), Angela (Erick), and Jesse (Cecilia); her six grandchildren, Marissa (Johnathan), Callista, Joshua, Jazmyne, Celina, and Liliana; and her great-granddaughter, Milani Estrella; and her sister, Carmen Nash and numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia’s unwavering love and guidance will remain in the hearts of her family forever.

While we grieve the loss of our beloved matriarch, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her loved ones in eternal rest. Virginia’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
