Viviano Guerrero passed away on August 5, 2020. Viviano was born on January 15, 1947 in Valadeces, Tamaulipas, Mexico. In his early life, he helped his family on the farm and later studied accounting and business in La Academia Comercial Garza Barrera. As a young man, he toured Mexico as a bus driver, and would later boast to his children that his driving ability came from his training and practice.
Viviano migrated to Houston in March of 1975, where he settled with his wife, Alma, in Houston’s East End. He eventually moved to Houston’s Northwest side, and lived in that area for the rest of his life. He developed his career as a commercial welder, and proudly worked at Mustang Cat, fixing the tractors and machinery that help build this world into a better place. Viviano loved his work, developed wonderful relationships with his co-workers, and was an esteemed mechanic and welder, sharing work stories with his family and friends often.
Boxing, soccer and barbecuing were all among Viviano’s favorite pastimes. It is no coincidence that all of those pastimes were tie-ins for his true passion-his family. Viviano could never have enough family in his life, and he loved his wife and children beyond what words can explain. Additionally, he accepted and loved each of their partners as if they were his own flesh and blood.
Vivi was preceded in death by his mother and father, Zoila Rodriguez Guerrero and Viviano Guerrero. He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Alma Delia, and his sons, daughters and their partners: Dr. Alma and Mr. Rick Velez, Mr. Viviano Jr. and Dr. Kerrie Guerrero, Dr. Claudia and Mr. Hector Chavana Jr., esq., and Mr. Edgar Guerrero and Ms. Silvia Garcia. He instilled a love of education and learning and a strong work ethic in his children and loved them individually in his personal, special way.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rebecca, Mary Grace, Jacob and Daniel Velez, Bailey Ritter, Madison and Colton Guerrero, Citlali, Joaquin and Emiliana Chavana, and Julian Guerrero. He leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Yolanda Garcia, Socorro Garcia and Gilberto Guerrero.
The pallbearers are Viviano Guerrero, Jr., Edgar Guerrero, Rick Velez, Hector Chavana, Jr., Bailey Ritter, Jacob Velez, Daniel Velez, and Colton Guerrero.
The family wishes to extend its gratitude to Deacon Fred Molina for the service, at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, where the viewing will be held at 10:30am, the rosary at 1:30pm and the services at 2:30pm. Interment will follow.
