

After graduating from Waltrip High School, Mr. Etie was drafted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served our country in the Vietnam War.
He was married to his beloved wife of 50 years, Colleen Marshall Etie. Walter was lovingly referred to as “Pop” by his family and friends.
Mr. Etie had a long, successful career in construction and owned Building Construction Systems Inc. Walter also built, owned, and sold mini storage facilities. Mr. Etie was instrumental in the construction of the Sam Houston Race Park.
He was a member of Spring Baptist Church. Walter’s faith deepened everyday as he spent time in God’s Word. He was proud to be a Christian and an American.
His passions included hunting, fishing, cooking, and spending quality time with his family.
Laughter is good medicine for the soul and Walter brought humor like only he could to his friends and family, through sharing the colorful stories of his life in a way that could bring us to tears. He enjoyed great food and valued gathering us around his table to enjoy his mouth-watering culinary works of art. Walter found immense joy in giving and said it made him so happy to share with others the blessings God had given him. He will always be remembered for creating memorable moments that had lasting impressions.
Walter was preceded in death by son Stacy Taylor.
He is survived by wife Colleen Marshall Etie, his son Tim Etie married to Christy Etie, daughter Shannon Bloodworth married to Craig Bloodworth, daughter-in-law Janet Taylor Coleman married to Larue Coleman; Grandchildren, Casey Etie, John Etie married to Maci Etie, Kaitlyn Etie, Christianne Taylor, Victoria Duncan married to Witt Duncan, Austin Taylor married to Kendall Taylor, Krystle Gutierrez married to Kris Gutierrez, Emma Bloodworth, Jackson Bloodworth, and Olivia Bloodworth; Great Grandchildren, Cooper Taylor, Duke Taylor, Leighton Taylor, Hayes Duncan, Farrah Duncan, Kaitlyn Gutierrez, Kristopher Gutierrez, and Charlie Etie.
A visitation for Walter will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
A committal service will occur Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
Serving as pallbearers are Tim Etie, John Etie, Austin Taylor, Jackson Bloodworth, Steve Parker, Witt Duncan and Roy Moorehead.
