Walter was born in Jamaica and after initially moving to New York, he settled in Houston with his family. He worked as an administrator for the University of Texas Health Science Center until his retirement in 2011.
He is survived by his wife Desrene, children Tameka, Allison and Andre. He is also survived by his sisters Sylvia, Kerene and Delva (Charles Baker); brothers Greville (Pauline) and Bernard; dear family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Friends are invited to visit with his family from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2015 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Mission Bend United Methodist Church, 3710 Hwy 6 South, Houston, TX 77082, 281-497-4491.
