

Bill graduated from the second graduating class of St. John's School. He earned an engineering degree from Colorado School of Mines, where he played on the football team. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1960. He was a Petroleum Engineer and started his career with Conoco and went on to work for Entex, General Crude, Texas Vanguard and Destec. Most importantly, Bill was a loving husband, father and a generous friend with a huge heart and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time in Port O'Connor where he taught many people to swim, ski, and fish. He also enjoyed hiking, skiing, and taking friends and families on adventures in Colorado.
Bill is survived by his sister, Sally Hill; his wife, Carmen Bagby; his daughters and their families: Chaille and Larry Garcia, Maria Bagby and Jacqueline Wood; Lisa Bagby; and Amy and Stephen Smith. Bill was known as Papa to his grandsons, Gregor and Logan Smith. He was also loved by his six nieces and nephews.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 24th of February, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Levenson, Rector, and the Rev. Richard H. Elwood, Assisting Priest for Pastoral Care, are to officiate. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Bagby Parish Hall.
Prior to the memorial service, the family will have gathered for a private inurnment at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston.
