Dub and I grew up together on Galveston’s East End. There was a gang of about 4 of us that fished, hiked, and explored Galveston. Some of my best memories were all of us playing penny/anty poker at Johnny Nelson’s house late into the night. When we got tired of poker, we would go down to a nearby fishing pier and smoke our cheap cigars and try to catch fish. None of us was older than 14. Johnny’s dad was a single parent and policeman who worked nights. We were free.. 

Dub was  a veteran of Vietnam and was seriously wounded there.  Memorial Day is a good time to remember those who served beyond the call.  He was a friend I will always remember.

Gonna miss you Dubber. We had some good old times that I will cherish forever. RIP ole buddy.

Love you Dub. You are a great man. I  think everyone knew where they stood with you. Thank you for being you!
