Bill was born on February 18th, 1968 to Laurie Richardson in El Campo but grew up in Rosenberg, Texas. Bill was an only child surrounded by pets, from dogs and ferrets to wild foxes. He was the kid always in trouble for taking apart the lawnmower or the family car just to see how things worked. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he tried college for a bit before deciding it wasn’t for him. He preferred a more hands-on approach to learning and teaching, and with an incredibly sharp sense for mechanics and engineering he lead a storied career in oil and gas until his passing.
In his free time, Bill would enjoy science-fiction, animation, video games, and gardening. He enjoyed building model planes and riding motorcycles, but most of all loved to go fishing with his sons. Several boats were bought and sold in the Mickelson household.
He’s survived by his sons Reed (Alishia Griffin), Reese, and Raden Mickelson. He was preceded in his passing by his mother by just a few years.
Bill’s funeral service will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral home on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 at 10 a.m. His family will be present to welcome all friends and loved ones who wish to celebrate his life and see him off.
