

“Bill”, age 91, is now at peace, and went home to be with the Lord, and his “Sweetheart”, on February 16, 2014, in New Caney, Texas. He was born in Reed. Oklahoma, on June 2, 1922, to the late Daniel and Lena Vaughan. He married his soul mate, Katie Prinz on July 6, 1947.
He served his country proudly by being in the Navy during WWII aboard the USS Carteret, as Fireman First Class. He was so honored to have witnessed the raising of the flag, by the Marines at Iwo Jima. Bill was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He loved to be with his family and supported any endeavor that they loved. He loved his work as a truck driver, employed with Magnolia Welding Supply. While there, he was recognized with driving over three million miles in Houston, without an accident. He served his Lord faithfully at Airline United Methodist Church, as a youth counselor and in the Food Pantry. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Katie; his brothers, Elmer, Earl, and Woodroe; his sisters, Laura, Nina, Vera, Mary, Pauline, and Francis.
He is survived by his daughters, Alice Marie Skinner and husband Larry of Houston, Nancy Kay Laster and husband John of San Antonio; son, Gary Vaughan and wife Ann of Houston TX.
Other survivors include, brother-in-law, Howard Prinz and wife Jo Ann; sister-in-law, Frances Burgdorf and husband Willard; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
Bill loved his Lord, his family, and his many friends…he loved life and never, ever met a stranger. All who were blessed to have crossed his path will definitely miss him. He will forever be in our hearts!
