Wilson Martin, Sr. was born December 8, 1934 in Bosco, Louisiana to the late Irene Benton. He was one of six children, four girls and two boys. Early on he learned the lesson of hard work, while helping to provide for his family. These were lessons that would serve him well later on in life. Most of his childhood and youth was spent in Monroe, Louisiana. It was in Monroe that he met and married the love of his life Corra Mae Anderson. Both having accepted Christ at an early age they took their bible teachings "to be fruitful and multiply" literally. Their union was blessed with eleven children. His blessing came when he was hired at St. Joe Container Co where he worked his way up to train operator. God blessed this family provider and hard worker until he retired with 20 years of service. He joined Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and worked faithfully as a usher greeting everyone at the sanctuary door until his death.
